Abstract

Monitoring of the results of development is absolutely necessary to see to what extent the development that has been carried out is beneficial for improving the people's welfare, so that subsequent development programs can be optimized. The National Socio-Economic Survey (Susenas) conducted by BPS is one source of information to get an overview of the socio-economic conditions of the community. Regional autonomy gives birth to data needs up to the Regency / City level. These data are needed by the district / city government as a basis for policy formulation and evaluation of development programs. Answering this need, starting in 2015, Susenas data collection was carried out in March with a sample of 300,000 households so as to enable estimations to the district / city level. In addition, in 2019, the number of March Susenas samples will increase to 320,000 households. Susenas produces a variety of cross-sectoral statistics including: school participation, reading and writing skills for education; health problems, utilization of health facilities, health insurance, breastfeeding for under two years, and immunization for children under five for the health sector; birth attendants, age of first marriage, KB participation, and the average number of children born to fertility and KB; living conditions, sources of water for drinking, cooking, bathing and washing for the housing sector; cellphone ownership, internet access in the use of information technology, and government assistance / programs for the welfare of the community. Susenas also collects household consumption and expenditure data for both food and non-food commodities. From these data obtained the average household consumption and expenditure as well as the average consumption of calories and protein per capita. Consumption and expenditure data detailed by commodity groups can provide an overview of the consumption patterns of the population in an area. This publication presents statistics that have been considered sufficiently representative of various fields and socio-economic conditions of the community by taking into account the eligibility requirements for estimations at the Regency / City level indicated by the Relative Standard Error (RSE) values listed in the appendix.
